ALA Editions Workshops Frequently Asked Questions
ALA Editions Workshops are designed to give you and your staff the opportunity to participate in a hands‐on learning experience that will help you make the best technology decisions for your library. The workshops are conducted using Cisco Webex, an interactive online platform that allows attendees and instructors to interact and share through chat, voice, and a wide variety of interactive media.
You can register for ALA Editions Workshops at the ALA Store, and once you complete your purchase, you'll receive an e-mail from Webex providing you with the information you can use to log on at the time of the event.
If you have any questions about this process, or you did not receive your login information after completing your purchase, please contact us at email@example.com.
How do I purchase access to an ALA Editions Workshop?
You can purchase access at the ALA Store. When you purchase access, you'll receive an e-mail from Webex providing you with the information you can use to log on at the time of the event.
Are the events only offered live, or can you view an archive?
ALA Editions Workshops are live events, but all attendees are given access to an archive of the event, which can be viewed at any time. The archive contains a video representation of the event, which includes all chat, audio and visual material. The biggest difference between the archive and the live event is that when participating in the live event, you can interact with the presenters and other attendees while in the archive, of course, you cannot.
Can I purchase access to the archive for an event that occurred in the past?
Yes, you can. We make archives available for purchase at the ALA Store 4-6 weeks after the live event is complete.
How do I know if my computer can run the Webex software?
If your computer was purchased in the last 4-5 years, it is likely that it can. Webex runs smoothly on both Windows and Mac OS and common browsers. You can run a systems test here to ensure that you are able to run Webex. If you’re not sure you’ve participated previously in a WebEx webinar, run this test in advance of the Event. You may need to download and install a browser plugin.
Do you offer a group rate?
ALA Editions Workshops are licensed for single site use on a single computer. You are welcome to view the Workshop with colleagues. Only one registered user will be able to participate in the Workshop. You can share the archive with colleagues in your organization. We offer group rates for 3 or more users to view in one physical location.
If you'd like to make a large group purchase, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
