Web Extra: Newbery and Caldecott Awards

For the past several years, each edition of The Newbery and Caldecott Awards has featured a distinctive essay illuminating a particular aspect of one of the awards. Taken together or separately, these essays add historical context as well as background to the selection process itself. The sampling of articles below, selected by ALSC, can easily be reproduced to share with staff and students of children’s literature.
